I've frequently heard people lambasting the song "Ironic" by Alanis Morrisette, to the point where I was fairly familiar with the lyrics, but it's only just now that I realized the song was in my local diner's music rotation; I had never made the connection between the music and the lyrics before. :) Funny, I expected a more melancholic piece, "rain on your wedding day" etc.
I'm not sure if this is an example of irony itself; after hearing so many English majors criticize the misuse of the word in various contexts, I've lost all ability to identify it myself. :)
