In Dallas…
Feb. 14th, 2007 05:03 pmit is not snowing. :) It is in the 30s, though, and it might actually flurry tonight, though probably not enough for a snow day.
Last night I went to my first meeting of the Dallas Recorder Society; that's "recorder" as in "flute-like instrument". It was pretty neat. I haven't played in an instrumental ensemble since college, and I've never played the recorder with other people. I learned that you can adjust the pitch of the recorder by blowing harder, which I didn't know before. There were about eight people there, and they had a whole variety of different-sized recorders; a few people had a complete set of sizes. The music we played through was almost all Renaissance choral music, which makes me think I should break out my own library of PDF files. The group meets once a month, and it's not a performance group at all, just people getting together to read through music.
I'm trying to motivate myself to make a review outline for my Astronomy class tomorrow; I promised to spend some time in class to get them ready for Tuesday's test.
