Impeachment
Jan. 15th, 2007 02:54 pmI'm curious what people think about impeachment. I don't think anyone reading this actually likes Bush, but impeachment is quite another matter. My wife and my father are both against it. It's too partisan, there isn't enough time in Bush's term for it to matter, there's no way there are enough Senators who would vote for it, and there are more important things to do. All good points.
On the other hand, the administration has repeatedly shown a complete lack of respect for the authority of Congress and the rule of law. He has already broken the law in at least one instance, and that was with a friendly Congress. What is to be done if he continues to flout Congressional authority? What other options are there? If he's allowed to do whatever he likes, regardless of the law, then what precedent does that set for the future, even if he does no more damage in the next two years himself?
So, thoughts?
